The Japanese brand renowned for its high-end craftsmanship returns to Bold to celebrate its first year in Europe and to unveil its 2025 novelties – including new agency partnerships, strategic expansion, and two new limited-edition models.
Exactly one year after its official debut at Bold, Takaori returns to the Dutch fair to reflect on its European journey so far. A year that has confirmed the brand as not simply another name in the eyewear world, but as a true celebration of Japanese craftsmanship and a return to the authenticity of handmade excellence.
2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Takaori – a time not only of growth, but above all of consolidation in terms of quality and brand identity.
Following MIDO, the brand launched a new chapter in France with direct representation. The first French optical boutiques embraced the project enthusiastically, recognising in Takaori the purity and authenticity of true Japanese craftsmanship.
In spring, another strategic milestone was reached with the signing of an agreement with a representation agency in the Netherlands, already well-established in managing niche brands. This agency, to be officially introduced during Bold 2025, will oversee development in both the Dutch and German markets.
“I’m proud of the work accomplished in this first half of the year. The number of collaborations and selected optical boutiques is growing slowly but steadily, fully in line with our philosophy of exclusive, carefully controlled distribution. More than a brand, Takaori is a philosophy: we reject the logic of mass production in favour of quality, patience, and excellence. Each frame requires hours of meticulous handwork, limiting our production to around 200 pieces per month. But it is precisely this exclusivity that defines our strength – each pair of glasses is crafted with a clear purpose and the utmost care” says Luca Marcellini, the brand’s European representative.
With the addition of the Netherlands and Germany, Takaori’s European representation network now includes four countries: Italy, France, Belgium, and the newly joined markets. This targeted network ensures that Takaori creations reach only those opticians and collectors capable of appreciating their true value.
Takaori is not a mass-produced product. Each frame is entirely handmade in Japan, with unwavering dedication and absolute precision. There are no compromises with marketing trends or aggressive distribution strategies: all resources are invested in quality, craftsmanship, and the continuity of a peerless tradition.
September marks a new chapter with the launch of two new models – one for men and one for women – both crafted from refined Japanese acetates and released, as always, in numbered limited editions. These are accompanied by new colourways, all remaining faithful to the collection’s defining features:
- Sharp-edged profiles, made possible by a unique polishing technique requiring expert hands, years of experience, and hours of dedicated work
- Single-block titanium hinges
- A family crest, inherited from the Middle Ages and crafted in 925 silver
- Every detail tells a story and conveys true value.
Takaori is tradition, art, and precision. It embodies the allure of a legacy rooted in ancient Japanese villages and the ethics of the Samurai. It is the highest expression of a manual craft that defies time and trends, transforming every pair of glasses into a wearable work of art.
