Design Eyewear Group is proud to announce that FLARE by FACE A FACE has won the esteemed SILMO d’Or 2025 in the “Sunglasses – Eyewear Designer” category.
This year, we’re celebrating 30 years of FACE A FACE – and what better way than with our FLARE frame taking home the prestigious SILMO d’Or? It’s a recognition of the rule-defying form, meticulous rebellion, and unmistakable flare that have always defined our brand. Celebrating it during this milestone year makes it even more memorable.
Diane Bliek, 24, led the design of the winning concept, making her one of the youngest SILMO d’Or winners in history. She’s quick to credit the whole FACE A FACE team, saying:
“We’re thrilled to win this award for the brand’s 30th anniversary. FLARE began as a research model based on lens cutting and grew into a frame of striking contrasts and surprising, asymmetrical cuts. What I love most is how our exclusive striped acetates interact with the shape, creating a graphic and optical interplay.”
Double nominations, back-to-back wins
The award also underlines the strength of Design Eyewear Group’s creative direction, with our WOOW brand honoured as a finalist in the same category. Following last year’s SILMO d’Or win with Prodesign’s CENSUR, this dual recognition of two distinct brands illustrates the company’s ability to foster diverse design languages while upholding a consistently high level of craftsmanship.
Anniversary finale on the Seine
On top of taking home the prestigious SILMO d’Or, FACE A FACE marked its 30th anniversary with a memorable celebration on the Seine. On Sunday evening, customers, partners, and members of the press joined the brand aboard a boat with panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower.
