McDougall Communications-Led Programs for the Contact Lens Institute and CooperVision are Finalists for Public Relations Society of American Silver Anvils

Two contact lens focused initiatives led by McDougall Communications are being recognized among the world’s top public relations campaigns of the year. The Public Relations Society of America this week named CooperVision’s MyDay® Multifocal contact lens U.S. launch and the Contact Lens Institute’s See Tomorrow venture as finalists for the 2023 Silver Anvil Awards, the Oscars® of the communications profession. They join honorees including AT&T, the Defense Intelligence Agency, Genentech, L.L. Bean, Sanofi, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Visa.

The Contact Lens Institute’s (CLI) See Tomorrow initiative is nominated for the Content Marketing (Associations/Non-Profits/Government) and Integrated Communications (Associations/Non-Profits) categories. Coming out of the pandemic, CLI wanted to replace uncertainty and instability with energy, encouraging doctors to fit more contact lenses. See Tomorrow was born—a multi-year, consumer research-backed initiative focused on opportunities afforded by societal change. Instead of suffering from shifting patient mindsets, eye care practices began understanding and addressing them with timely, actionable knowledge.

CooperVision’s MyDay Multifocal U.S. launch is nominated for the Marketing (Business-to-Business) and Integrated Communications (Business-to-Business) categories. Helping patients with age-related presbyopia is a significant and ever-expanding opportunity, yet many eye care professionals were wary of current solutions. The team worked with early adopting doctors to share the benefits of this game-changing lens with colleagues while also delivering some playful “Game On, Presbyopia” smack talk. The result has been significant momentum for the brand nationwide. McDougall partnered with creative agency Truth Collective on the integrated effort.

Since 1944, the Silver Anvil Awards have been presented to organizations that successfully address challenging issues with exemplary professional skill, creativity, and resourcefulness. They represent the benchmark of exceptional performance, with a stringent peer judging process and candidates from around the world. McDougall Communications has been awarded multiple Anvils, spanning a range of clients, programs, and categories. This year’s winners and runners-up will be announced during a gala dinner at Manhattan’s Edison Ballroom on June 8, 2023.
