Coburn Technologies, a global leader in ophthalmic lens processing systems and ophthalmic instruments, in continuing its mission to give back to communities around the world, has committed to renewed support for the Optometry Giving Sight charity. Optometry Giving Sight (OGS) is a non-profit organization that raises funds from optometrists, optometry practices, and optometry-related businesses and corporations to award grants for sustainable, impactful projects that expand the profession and improve access to vision care in underserved areas of the world.
During the last 20 years, OGS has: awarded more than 200 grants for primary eye care services for more than 15 million people; funded the training of more than 14,000 optometrists and eye care personnel; established more than 200 vision centers in underserved areas; and served individuals of all ages in more than 70 countries.
“We have donated to Optometry Giving Sight for several years and are heartened by their hard work supporting impactful programs that promote eye health to communities without access to eye care,” stated Alex Incera, President of Coburn Technologies. “Our mission and purpose as a company aligns with OGS in that we both strive to help the world see better, and we believe these giving programs will help do just that.”
Coburn has pledged to provide enhanced financial donations to support the World Sight Day Challenge, the annual global awareness and fundraising campaign that helps create grants, vision centers, optometry schools, and training. Additionally, Coburn will offer its employees the opportunity to participate through a payroll deduction program in which the company will match employee donations. Coburn has also pledged in-kind contributions in the form of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment to OGS supported vision centers and optometry schools. And finally, Coburn will offer its employees opportunities to volunteer at OGS supported activity sites across the world.
“We are so appreciative of the continued support of Coburn Technologies,” said OGS Executive Director Donna J. Mikulecky. “Preventable blindness and vision impairment affect more than 1 billion people worldwide. It’s a staggering number. The leadership and staff of Coburn share our vision of a world in which everyone enjoys the gift of sight, and the hope and opportunity that it provides. We look forward to continuing to work with Coburn as, together, we give sight and change lives around the world,” concluded Ms. Mikulecky.
These new initiatives begin on World Sight Day, October 9th, 2025. For more information, visit www.coburntechnologies.com, call 1-800-262-8761, or email CustomerCareCenter@coburntechnologies.com.
