We are excited to announce the launch of the CWEC Mentorship Program for 2026, an initiative designed to connect women in eye care across Canada and support the development of future leaders in our field.
What is the CWEC Mentorship Program?
The CWEC Mentorship Program is built to connect women in eye care across Canada. CWEC aims to be a catalyst for members to engage with women in leadership and to support participants as they grow into leadership roles themselves.
Why Join the Mentorship Program?
Participation in the program offers meaningful benefits for both mentors and mentees.
- Mentees will have opportunities for personal growth, career planning, and networking through guidance and support from experienced professionals.
- Mentors will give back to the profession by sharing their insights, experiences, and advice, while building meaningful connections that help guide women toward leadership roles.
Both mentors and mentees become part of a strong, supportive community committed to growth, collaboration, and leadership in eye care.
Mentor Applications
We are currently accepting applications from members interested in serving as mentors for the 2026 program.
Mentor Requirements: female Optometrist or Ophthalmologist, completion of a short application form introducing yourself and outlining your goals as a mentor – Start here!
** Application Deadline: Thursday, January 29, 2026 @ 12PM (noon) PST / 3PM EST **
Mentors will receive an email following the submission deadline regarding acceptance and next steps in the pairing process.
Mentee Sign-Up
If you are looking to grow professionally, expand your network, and engage with women leaders in eye care, we encourage you to participate.
Interested in participating as mentees? Please keep an eye on your email after the Mentor Application deadline for our mentor list release! From there, you will be able to rank your mentors and be paired.
