The 2013 World Sight Day Challenge was a fantastic success, with over $850,000 raised globally (up 20% from last year) in support of sustainable primary vision care in the developing world. We’d like to share with you the results of some of the top performing Canadian offices.Congratulations to Queensway Optometric Centre in Ontario for being the top office for the second year in a row, raising the most of any practice in Canada with a total amount of $7127.98 in 2013!
“There were many more offices who raised and donated wonderful amounts, and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who was involved in the Challenge. The support we received from the optometric community was outstanding again this year and will transform the lives of many people who are blind or vision impaired simply because they do not have access to an eye exam and glasses,” said Corinne Waldon and the Optometry Giving Sight Team.
Optometry Giving Sight also extends its thanks to a few additional offices who do not specifically participate in the World Sight Day Challenge, but who raised and donated a phenomenal amount again in 2013 – many thanks to the staff and doctors at Drs. Heimdahl, Zobell and Associates, and to the staff along with Dr. Sherk and Dr. Donaldson at White Rock Optometry for their generous support and efforts.
