THE WHY: Your patients are more likely to connect with your content if they understand what you’re trying to say

 

THE HOW: Avoid too much technical information, use terms your patients understand, and speak to a Grade 8 reading level, max. You don’t want to lose people’s interest because they don’t understand what you’re saying. If you want to use medical technical terms, be sure to explain them so everyone understands. Sure, you can say “pterygium,” but be sure to also call it “surfer’s eye” and explain what it is.
