Johnny Depp's gruesome defamation trial against Amber Heard made it possible for fans to see the actual state of his relationship with his ex-wife. Thanks to the media's coverage, millions of fans worldwide were so invested in the case that they even kept tabs on the Pirates of the Caribbean actor's outfit to every appearance he had on the trial. Aside from Johnny's typical suit and tie, what caught fans' attention the most was the set of accessories he wore, especially his limited edition glasses.

Because not everyone can buy the exact glasses Johnny Depp wore to his trial, fans thought of a way to get one by making a TikTok filter copying its design. With millions of TikTok users loving how they looked with the virtual glasses, it quickly became a viral TikTok trend loved by Johnny's fans globally.

What Is Johnny Depp's Favorite Accessories?

Johnny Depp's style wouldn't be complete without his three favorite accessories: rings, glasses, and scarves. Whether in the 1990s, when leather jackets, long hair, and black clothing were a Hollywood trend, or 2020s, where people explore more color combinations in their outfits, Johnny's accessories game only improved with age.

It doesn't matter if he's walking in the streets of Los Angeles or attending a red carpet event. The 59-year-old cannot leave without his silver rings. Starting in his early 40s, Depp also began wearing scarves from the brand Lord SM Paris which makes handmade cloth in France. However, Johnny Depp's most timeless piece of accessories, his glasses, has become part of his everyday comfort outfit. Brands such as Moscot have hired Johnny Depp to model for their eyewear.

What Sunglasses Did Johnny Depp Wear In Court?

Often wearing clear or black tinted glasses, Johnny Depp's fans were intrigued by the rare blue tinted ones he wore to his defamation trial. Aside from his 2015 commercial with Dior, a brand that offered another seven-figure deal to him, Johnny was never really an avid fan of blue tints on shades.

That's why when fans found out that he got his blue-tinted shades from AM Eyewear, a handcrafted eyewear brand made in Japan and Italy, they immediately tried to buy one themselves through the store's website.

However, with the rapid increase in demand for the shades, AM Eyewear could not produce such a high volume of their Ava in Yellow Mellow design because of their 'limited' stock.

Additionally, AM Eyewear's founder Simon Ponnusamy decided not to re-stock the so-called 'Johnny Depp frame.' He compares these limited edition glasses to rare sneaker designs, saying, "We [AM Eyewear] have people emailing us to find out the day they'll [Ava in Yellow Mellow] go on sale, and they collect them."

That's why now, the only way fans could get one is by looking for it in secondary markets for a much higher price reaching up to $2000, which is far from its original price range of $300 to $500. The craze for Johnny's AM Eyewear glasses even reached a point that some fans began bidding for one.

The Sunglasses Johnny Depp Wore To His Defamation Trial Were Not Sponsored

Although fans went crazy over finding out where to buy his blue-tinted glasses, some speculated that he could have worn them because it was part of a brand deal. However, InvisionMag.com debunks the rumor and says he probably bought it himself when he went to the Australia-based brand eight years ago.

Johnny and Amber were still married in 2014 and stayed in Australia until 2015. Also mentioned during the court trial, it was also in Australia when Amber Heard allegedly cut Johnny Depp's fingertip, which Johnny's lawyers used as evidence against his ex-wife.

Fans found it amusing that the possible reason Depp decided to wear the sunglasses he bought in Australia the same year Amber Heard abused her in their home was to mock his ex-wife subtly. After Johnny tried exposing Amber Heard's photos, another way he could throw her off would be if he wore an accessory symbolizing their terrible time in Australia.

Fans Made A TikTok Filter Inspired By Johnny Depp's Sunglasses

After Johnny Depp unintentionally boosted the sales and social media hype over AM Eyewear's limited edition glasses, fans who were unfortunate enough not to get a hold of the glasses turned to TikTok to find a remedy. Only days after the father of two wore it to the trial, a TikTok filter called Johnny Depp was made. The filter adds facial hair similar to Johnny's and sunglasses like AM Eyewear's Ava in Yellow Mellow.

Johnny Depp joined TikTok after winning his defamation case against his ex-wife and, within 24 hours, gained a whopping 3.3 million followers already. Although he hasn't tried the filter fans made inspired by his court case appearance, it seems that big celebrities have joined in on the viral trend. Even the singer Zhavia posted a video of her with the Johnny Depp filter and said, "Wait, but do I [Zhavia] look like him [Johnny Depp]?"
