Rochester Optical presents a glimpse of the new optical store

Arriving in London to present the anticipated “Getting Over Future Shock” session, Rochester Optical’s CMO Tim Moore had some exciting comments about Smart Eyewear, what is coming soon, and the interest levels around the world by eye care professionals and customers alike. Here are excerpts of a quick phone interview with him…
Mr. Moore, you have been traveling the world evangelizing Smart Eyewear, how has the response been from Eye Care professionals?
“Everyone has been super excited, and wants to learn more. From Hong Kong, to Europe, to CES in Las Vegas, it’s all the same reaction: when and where can I get them? Energy at our booths, meetings with ECP’s and lens labs, and off the cuff conversations have all been encouraging, and the majority of optical professionals see where all of this is going; and they want in sooner rather than later. No one wants to play catch up when it comes to major optical industry developments, and the technology sector is infamous for moving at the speed of light.”

You speak often at industry events and recently in Hong Kong you described the Smart Eyewear Centers. Can you tell us more about these? [insert image here – see attached rendering]
“It’s simple – most eye care professionals need traffic and a draw into their practice. We developed this collaborative concept of a Smart Eyewear Center with our partners and have numerous options for scalability. We can accommodate any size display area and assist the ECP (eye care professional) in developing and expanding his business by being both a leader and visionary in his targeted area, region or country, and offering the latest and greatest Smart products customers are clamoring to find. We have an entire turn key offering for the Smart Eyewear Centers that we are very excited about.”
When will we be seeing these? Any coming to the UK?
“You’ll see some concepts for the European market this weekend, and as far as what’s coming to the UK, we are working with our UK reseller Waterside Labs. They will have more specifics on when, where and what is rolling out. You can visit their booths at the show (located at E48 and E72) to learn more.”
