Nike Vision announces its inaugural pair of young athletes’ performance eyewear. For more than a decade, Nike Vision’s sport eyewear has been the choice of top athletes. The Skylon Ace XV Jr., will be Nike Vision’s entry into youth performance eyewear. The style is available now at optical retailers and a wide range of retailers, including Nike’s online store www.nike.com

To perfect the fit of the Skylon Ace XV Jr., designers worked with facial morphology to ensure the style truly fit young athletes. “What many may not realize, is that a child’s face is completely different from an adult, it’s not simply a smaller version,” said Carl Allen, Senior Designer at Marchon. “The style isn’t simply a takedown from the adult’s Skylon Ace XV. In reality, hours of research go into creating a design specifically for a child or teenager’s face. We had to create something that was tailored for a young athlete in every way, which is also why we’re offering a variety of color combinations, so that there are enough to link up with most team uniforms.”

The Skylon Ace XV Jr. features Nike Max Optics Lens Technology to ensure precise visual information at all angles of view, the same lens technology featured in the brand’s adult professional-grade eyewear. The lightweight nylon frame improves comfort and durability. A ventilated nose bridge reduces fogging, while cam-action hinges snap firmly into place. Secure wrap temples feature rubber tips for grip, stability and comfort.

The eyewear also features impact resistant polycarbonate lenses that are lightweight and scratch resistant. The frame features Nike’s standard performance u-bevel lens cavity so the lens will not fall backward into the eye area from front impact, but will instead bounce outward. The Skylon Ace XV Jr. also features an eight-base sport frame wrap design to maximize coverage and 100% UVA/UVB protection.

“This is an exciting launch for us, because it’s a completely new territory,” said Steve Tripi, Marketing Director at Marchon, Nike Vision’s licensing company. “We wanted to be sure that the young athlete receives same benefits that professional athletes have. The Skylon Ace XV Jr. will boast the same technical advantages that the pros have access to.”

The Skylon Ace XV Jr. retails between $99 and $115 and is available in five color ways.
