It has been a really important late February at the Group’s Italian plants for the award of 234 scholarships to the most deserving students, daughters and sons of employees at six factories of Agordo, Cencenighe, Lauriano, Pederobba, Sedico and Rovereto, who have finished the school and academic year with excellent results.
Scholarships – divided by type of school, from middle and high school to university – were awarded during special ceremonies at Luxottica’s plants in Rovereto (February 22), Sedico (February 23) Agordo (February 25) Pederobba (February 26) and Lauriano (February 29). The Agordo event, in particular, involved special testimonials: the Operations Managers led by our Vice President Luigi Francavilla.
Great participation and emotion from the young winners, family and friends. We asked one of them, Fabio Ratti, 26, from Bari, a graduate degree in Marketing from the University of Bari, to share with us some thoughts on his future. “I have high expectations of myself, like any ambitious young man. I imagine my future at the height of my dreams” – says Fabio. “I believe that work is crucial in a person’s life. This is why it is absolutely important to be lucky enough to love your job in order to live well. Results always come after efforts and sacrifices. Having the opportunity to work in a school of excellence such as Luxottica is proof of this!”.
For the fifth year in a row, Luxottica has increased to about 260,000 Euros the total value of the scholarships, up by 30% compared to 200,000 Euros from last year. A tangible sign of how young people and their education are important for our Group, to the point that they are a priority of our Corporate Welfare System. In this context, Luxottica has taken concrete actions to support them when they begin to lay the foundations for their future career: scholarships and refund of tuition fees for the best students, educational and professional training initiatives, internships and periods of stay abroad.
The young winners have been able to achieve excellence in their studies, with the utmost commitment and determination. They have put their talent to the test, proving that they can become real protagonists of the future. Whatever directions they will choose, Luxottica’s scholarship is an incentive to challenge themselves to go further and still improve in the study, life and work.
