What’s driving the coloured lens trend?
Who’s buying them? Who’s wearing them? How can coloured lenses help tie your outfit together?
We chatted with opticians and some of the industry’s top designers to bring this trend into focus.
Optician Ryan Horne, owner of SPEX By Ryan in Regina, Sask., and he’s noticed a definite surge in demand for Transitions lenses.
“People have loosened up and are much more accepting of photochromics than ever before,” he said. “Many of them are asking for them before we get a chance to talk about them. This can likely be attributed to our social media posts showcasing clients wearing their new coloured lenses, creating influence for others.”
Now when people walk into Horne’s clinic asking for fashion advice, it’s never been easier to help someone complete a look with coloured lenses.
“Many people are looking at their new frames as a compliment to their perfectly fine previous pair(s) and are willing to be more adventurous, truly completing their overall fashion looks. The days of having one really safe pair that does everything are really behind us for most people now.”
