Statement-making shades a popular summer choice

Style experts say statement-making sunglasses will be popular this summer as the light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel gets closer and brighter.

Shades with bold hues, head-turning designs and big silhouettes all jibe with this trend.

Vogue magazine says trendy dressers will be on the lookout for “everyday exuberance to match this season’s optimistic fashion.” The magazine says runways have been dominated by brightly coloured clothing and eccentric prints and it expects the same will be in demand in the eyewear space.

The international fashion company Who What Wear agrees, saying shades with mood-boosting colours, super-oversized silhouettes and retro vibes will be hot this summer.

As restrictions continue to lift, and the dark cloud of the pandemic dissipates, people will once again flock to beaches, farmer’s markets and boardwalks. Soon, outdoor festivals, concerts and other events will return. Travel options will also open up.

All of this means it’s the perfect time for eye care professionals to encourage their patients to add some daring, out-of-the-box sunglasses to their wardrobes.
