FUNKY FRAMES ARE EN VOGUE THIS WINTER.
THE VISION COUNCIL SAYS ONE OF THE HOT TRENDS THIS SEASON IS TO STEP AWAY FROM THE NORM AND EMBRACE THE PECULIAR.
“ALLOWING THEIR IMAGINATIONS TO RUN RAMPANT, DESIGNERS HAVE CAST ALL BOUNDARIES ASIDE, INJECTING THIS SEASON WITH UTTERLY BRILLIANT SPECS AND SUNNIES THAT PROVE ANYTHING GOES,” SAYS THE ORGANIZATION’S EYECESSORIZE FALL/WINTER TREND KIT.
FOR MEN, TROPICAL MOTIFS AND FRAMES WITH FUNKY BRIDGES ARE IN, WHILE WOMEN ARE FALLING IN LOVE WITH AN “UNEXPECTED MIX OF OVERSIZED, ORGANIC AND FUTURISTIC SHAPES, EXTENDED FELINE-LIKE TEMPLES, GLITTERY INLAYS AND COSTUME-ISH PATTERNS.”
HERE ARE SOME FRAMES THAT EMBRACE THE UNCONVENTIONAL:
Model 201, part of Pugnale & Nyleve’s Golden Rain collection, features a high-curve bridge, funky flower-inspired motif, rose gold coating on the temples and a cool 3-D drop effect.
Area98 has unleashed several new KAOS models, including the KK395, a feminine frame that comes with funky gems on the brightly coloured temples.
The rose is featured in this eye-catching frame, part of OKIA’s The Secret Garden collection.
Hypnoshine sunglasses by Fendi, part of Safilo’s licenced brands portfolio, feature rounded lenses which are encircled by a metal cat’s eye frame to give it a “glasses within the glasses effect.”
Solar, part of the Judith Leiber Couture eyewear collection, which is distributed
by Match Eyewear, is adorned with 252 Swarovski crystals on the temples.
Giorgio Armani is not shying away from the unusual with the oval-shaped sunglasses AR 6034Z.
