Transitions Optical Now Accepting Nominations for the Fourth-Annual Canadian Eyecare Professional of the Year and First-Ever Canadian Retailer of the Year Awards

Transitions Optical, Inc. has expanded its Healthy Sight Awards program to recognize even more of its partners who are promoting healthy sight in their communities and supporting the Transitions® lens brand. This year, Transitions Optical is accepting nominations for the first-ever Canadian Transitions Retailer of the Year as well as for the next Canadian Transitions Eyecare Professional of the Year. All finalists will be recognized during the 17th annual Transitions Academy in January, where the winners will be announced.

“Both eyecare professionals and retailers are on the frontline of delivering vision care and eye health education across Canada, and we are excited to continue and expand our Healthy Sight Awards program to honor them for their overall commitment to the industry and the work they do within their communities each and every day,” said Christine Underhill, business manager, Canada.

Nominees for both categories will be evaluated on a range of criteria, including their commitment to photochromic growth, marketing initiatives, community involvement and education and training efforts. Eyecare professionals may be self-nominated, or nominated by a laboratory or lens manufacturer representative via the Awards website (Transitions.com/HSAP). Retailers should apply through self-nomination and submit nomination forms and presentations to Transitions Optical Customer Service (CustomerServiceCanada@Transitions.com). Forms are available from Customer Service or the retailer’s Transitions Optical representative. Submissions for both Awards are being accepted now through November 2.

Eligibility for the Transitions Healthy Sight Awards
To be considered for the Transitions Eyecare Professional of the Year Award, eyecare professionals must be part of an independent practice with no more than 10 locations and have at least a 15 percent share of Transitions® lenses. Canadian retailers with 10 or more locations that have a partnership agreement with Transitions Optical are eligible for the Transitions Retailer of the Year awards program.

Recognition and Prizes
All retailer finalists will receive a trip for two to attend the 2013 Transitions Academy, in Orlando, Fla., where the winner will be announced. Each eyecare professional finalist representing the three regions in Canada (West, Ontario and East) will also receive this trip. Additional prizes for all Award winners include staff rewards, permission to use the Award logo on internal and external communications and professional marketing/public relations support. New this year, the Eyecare Professional of the Year will also win a grand-prize trip for two to the Transitions Optical headquarters in Tampa, Fla., for a comprehensive plant tour, and receive support for continuing his or her healthy sight efforts in 2013 with a $1,000 grant through the Transitions Healthy Sight for Life® Fund.

If a laboratory or manufacturer representative’s nominee for the Eyecare Professional of the Year Award is selected as a finalist, he or she and a colleague will also receive a trip to Transitions Academy 2013.
